Biography

Dr. Collins, a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, joins Derm Health with more than 30 years of experience in Mohs surgery and skin cancer care. Dr. Collins holds an academic affiliation with OHSU, where he helps run their high-risk skin cancer clinic.

While patient care is his main focus, Dr. Collins is very active in other areas of medicine, serving on 12 task forces and committees with the American Academy of Dermatology and several with the American College of Mohs Surgery.  In addition, he has been critical to the American Medical Association’s Relative Values System Update Committee (RUC) which advises the federal government on payment for physician services and development of alternative models for the delivery of health care.

B. Collins MD Service Award” from the Oregon Dermatology Society, the “Above and Beyond” award from the American Academy of Dermatology, and the “Presidential Service Award” from the American College of Mohs Surgery.  Additionally, he has received 16 Presidential Citations from the American Academy of Dermatology as well as assorted national volunteerism awards.

Passionate about the outdoors, Dr. Collins enjoys mountain biking, hiking, fly-fishing, birding and exploring off-grid.  With his training in Wilderness Medicine as a first responder he is a member of the Jefferson County Search and Rescue team, the health and safety director for the Sister’s Trail Alliance, and a member of the health and safety team for the Deschutes Land Trust.
